Exciting new development in Halifax
There was an article in today’s Chronicle Herald titled On the 25 year plan. The Parks of West Bedford is set to begin selling lots in October of 2009 and will be made up of over 526 Hectares and when finished, be home to some 18,000 residents of the Halifax Regional Municipality. I will be located near the site of the new Research in Motion building between the Kearney Lake Rd. and the Bedford highway and will incorporate West Bedford Business Park. Being touted as a place where you can “work, live and play” & be able to walk down the street in the morning to work!
The project is estimated to take 25 years until completion
The business park will encompass about 40 hectares and will take 10 to 12 years to develop. It will be located right next to the current Research In Motion building just off of the Hammonds Plains Rd. The type of businesses that they developers are looking for are similar “knowledge-based” businesses to occupy the park. The development will consist of 5 residential neighbourhoods that will consist of 6000 residential units with everything from single-family homes to apartment complexes. It will even have a continuing care facility that is expected to open in 2010.
Green Space
When completed the project will have double the Green Space required by the city. It will have approximately 20%. A network of walking & running trails and roads will connect the the whole development. Much of the building materials used in the construction and the way that the units are constructed will be energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

Hey Scott! Great Post! You should see how we get involved in selling these units when they are ready. I look forward to future posts!
Yeah that are some great lots. I hope you sell your fair share.
Excellent information Scott. Atlantic Canada is on the move, lots of stuff happening here in St. John’s as well. We’re definitely seeing an upswing in the local market. Would you say it’s the same in halifax?
Yes it is picking up for sure. Our office is having a great month. The winter was terrible with all of the negative talk. We are living in some of the best places in Canada to avoid this recession. Danny Williams is doing a great job in NL.
Cool post, just subscribed.
